I have not been a big fan of nets but 10 or 15 mins should not be a problem.

Subject: [ITS-EXEC] Proposed ITS Net
I have been contacted by the P.E.P. asking to use the ITS system for a weekly net.
"The purpose is to try and foster a bit of coms up & down the Island
between PEP and the other Emergency Program radio operators. I propose
a short 10-15 minute "check-in net" from 19:30-19:45 Wednesday nights,
starting December 2 2009. I propose we try running it for 2mos, to
gauge the response/participation, and then decide if its worth it to
continue after that period. We'd basically be asking for the "ERC" or
their deputy of the various groups up & down the island to check in
with their name & qth. And if there was any upcoming exercises being
run, or other news of interest everyone could mention the details, so
it can be a way of keeping emergency program volunteers informed up &
down the island. I realize some of the Island Trunk system is on solar
power and during winter, batteries & light availability mean there is
limited resources. However I dont see this as being a long or
protracted session every Wednesday, thus it shouldn't be a drain on
the system resources."
I personally think this would be a great way to utilize the ITS system. Please let me know if anyone or group has any comments regarding the proposed net. Unless there are any objections from any group, the net will be on the ITS as described above. Please advise all within your club or group should they wish to participate.
Thanks
Roger
